This thread painting workshop starts with a custom painted fabric background. A design printed stabilizer overlays the background and will guide you from section to section to assure success right from the start. This workshop also includes both thread painting techniques I use so you will get an overall view of both of Nancy’s techniques. Plus, you will learn how to blend thread to create realism in the project. And for your convenience, a workshop kit is included in the fee so all you need do is gather the threads, a 6” hoop and machine notions and you are ready for the workshop.
Workshop Kit Includes:
- (2) pieces of designs printed on stabilizer
- (5) pieces of stabilizer backing
- (2) pieces tulle
- Custom printed background fabric

You will also need a 6” machine embroidery hoop. If you don’t have a 6″ machine embroidery hoop, you can add one to your order. For those using 40-weight polyester thread on the upper spindle, use Quilter’s Select 80-weight or Superior’s 60-weight Bottom Line thread has been recommended in a dark or light color but is not mandatory. The wrong weight thread in the bobbin can result in an unbalanced tension with the bobbin thread popping to the top threads. But you are learning a technique and the proper bobbin thread can be purchased at a later date.
